Police said Tyler, a 7th grader, was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of other people shooting at each other from two vehicles on Bruton Road at St. Augustine Drive.

Tyler died Tuesday night after being shot in the shoulder.

Surveillance video showed Tyler walking home with friends when gunshots were fired outside the convenience store he was walking home from.

Other store patrons are seen standing outside, when a silver vehicle speeds by.

The men run for cover.

Another man is seen getting out of a dark-colored vehicle with a gun. The man is seen rushing toward the direction of the silver car.

Tyler and the other boys were in the middle of the shooting, according to Dallas Police.

Wednesday evening, a crowd gathered around Tyler’s family during a vigil in honor of the boy’s memory.
